Youth Triathlon Clinic in Chicago

I went up to Chicago for a quick weekend to help with a Youth Triathlon Clinic. The ages ranged from 7-17. What a great bunch of kids. There were about 25-30 kids for two days. The clinic was put on by Alive with Mission Me! and Tri-Masters. Tri-Master's is a group that encourages kids of any age, size, color, bike or no bike, to learn about triathlons and duathlon. It is such a wonderful group. Bernard and Tony were AWESOME! What a bunch of great guys helping out kids who just want to get out and do things! Alive with MissionMe! is a non profit organization that encourage kids to get out and just do things outside...sort of what we used to do when we were younger. Ride our bike to play t-ball, go to the lake for 5 hours and just swim and play, ride our bikes to go to the local pool and then ride home and dinner was ready. I miss those days. But I think we can still do that with kids...just in an organized setting. Teach kids that it is OK, to get out and do things! I learned and accomplished a lot from that clinic...kids are exhausting, so many great coaches out there, Chicago is an AWESOME town, kids are exhausting, learned new swim drills, learned different drills for the kidos...on swimming, biking and running, improved my speed walking:), kids are exhausting, learned how to get on the same level with the kids...(Just tell them what you have on your IPod...Usher, Chris Brown, Rhianna...I am not that old!) and that a little part of me hoped that I made a difference in a 7-17 year old's life. That someday they can look back at their weekend of the triathlon clinic and say..."Hey, remember that Coach Jen from Texas...she was _(fill in the blank)_". That is what I hoped that I accomplished from the clinic in Chicago. Thanks Kidos:)
