HOT, WINDY and just YUCK!! This is from http://www.ironmanlive.com/.
A tough day in Arizona
RACETIME: 16:27
If you are wondering how tough things were out on the course today, all you have to do is check out the number of DNF's at today's race.Of the 2035 athletes who started the swim, 2033 finished in time to start the bike.Of those, 1,874 managed to get through the hot and windy bike course.1,830 of those started the run. With just under 40 minutes to go, 1,574 of those athletes have finished. The high attrition rate is no-doubt due to the extreme heat we experienced here today, coupled with the high winds.

Unfortunately, one of those DNF's was my husband. I rented a mountain bike and was seeing him at different parts of the bike and the run. He looked great on the bike and even the first 3 miles of the run...at mile 5...he gave me the look that you don't want to see from anyone. He gave me "I am done!" look. He was having stomach issues even on the bike and felt like there was an alien in his stomach. I suggest to go to the med tent just to get checked out. They let him hang out for a bit but didn't give him an IV since he felt like he didn't need it. I saw James Bonney in there and the 5th place male. They looked spent!
Chris is OK...he has a really good attitude from not finishing it. I think I was more upset for him then he was? But he knows there are other races and other Ironman races! I want to let him know that I love him and support him whether he placed 1st, 30th, 495th, or DNF. He is still my Ironman!!!
